Microsoft and SOLIDWORKS support for various Microsoft server and SQL products will be coming to an end soon.
What this affects:
- SolidNetWork License Manager
- SOLIDWORKS PDM Archive and Database Servers
- SOLIDWORKS Electrical Server
Before upgrading to SOLIDWORKS 2018, servers running any of the above will need to be upgraded to a supported edition.
Supported server products:
- Windows Server 2016
- Windows Server 2012 R2 – NOTE: Support ends with SOLIDWORKS 2018 SP5
- Windows Server 2012 – NOTE: Support ends with SOLIDWORKS 2018 SP5
SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional
Support for SQL Server 2008 R2 will also end with SOLIDWORKS PDM 2017 SP5 but according to SOLIDWORKS, the 2018 products may still run but it hasn’t been tested and therefore not supported.
Supported SQL Server products:
- SQL Server 2016
- SQL Server 2014
- SQL Server 2012
If you purchased PDM Professional (EPDM) after or were on subscription as of April 1, 2014, you are eligible for SQL Server 2014. A SQL Server installation disk was included with the installation media for 2015 and 2016 for existing customers and is included for new customers for 2017.
