In the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, an “app” is the application used to perform specific tasks or jobs. A “role” is a grouping of these apps organized to cater to specific professional functions and streamline the purchasing process.
Apps are sold in groups called “roles,” which helps users easily acquire a tailored set of tools that fit their specific needs. An important benefit of purchasing roles is that if new apps are added to a role in the future, existing owners of that role receive these new apps instantly at no additional cost. They always have access to the latest tools and features.
There are two roles required to be connected to and to run additional programs on 3DEXPERIENCE. These foundation roles are called Collaborative Business Innovator and Collaborative Industry Innovator. These give you the ability to connect from any smart device from anywhere in the world. From any browser, you can view 3D content, manage revisions, lifecycles, and cloud data. Based on each user’s role, you would then purchase and assign other roles.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform provides shared data storage, with 25 gigabytes available for every user added to the tenant. This collective storage pool is accessible to all users within the organization. Additional storage can be purchased for a small fee.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform includes Share & Markup with all SOLIDWORKS offers, allowing designs to be shared globally. With this feature, anyone can view, rotate, measure, markup and comment on designs for free.
Collaboration has never been easier, with all comments visible to everyone who accesses the link. If additional capabilities like approvals and CAD data access are required, low-cost viewer roles are specifically designed to meet these needs.
