This is a very common question. First off, both products are going to be around for the foreseeable future, and both can be leased quarterly or yearly. Leasing lets you get started right away and change platforms when you are ready if you choose. We typically suggest that if you are working with stakeholders running a certain version, it’s a good idea to stick with that. If you are not working directly partners and you want the latest in technology, CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE might be a good fit.
It really depends on your unique situation. Most cases typically lean toward SOLIDWORKS because it is designed to be easy to learn and can handle most designs. CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE has a roll-back function for exporting to previous versions. These exports will open in previous versions such as V5, however, the feature tree will be missing and will import as a solid body.
All files are saved on secure DS servers using banking-level security technology.
