Advanced Cloud-Based Simulation
3DEXPERIENCE SIMULIA uses the proven Abaqus solver to help you tackle complex structural simulations efficiently.
These analysis tools are part of the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud platform, allowing simulations to run in the cloud. You’ll have access to more processing cores for faster results, while freeing up your local hardware for other design or simulation work.
3DEXPERIENCE SIMULIA is packaged by roles. See below for the most common role bundles. Contact us to learn about the full portfolio of roles.

Frequently Asked Questions
You choose which hardware is used. Cloud solving is a key benefit of SIMULIA on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and allows you to perform complex analysis without the need to own expensive computer hardware. However, you can use your own computer to solve simulations locally if you prefer.
Simulation models and results are securely stored on your private cloud tenant.
Yes. You’ll upload your SOLIDWORKS models to the cloud to set up and solve your simulations. The cloud copy is linked to your local file, so you can easily update your simulation with any changes to your SOLIDWORKS model, enabling rapid iteration.
These are two different methods for solving FEA problems. The implicit solution technology is ideal for solving static and low-speed dynamic events, such as sealing pressure in a gasket joint or crack propagation in a composite airplane fuselage. The explicit solution technology available in Structural Mechanics Engineer is well-suited for high-speed dynamic events, such as consumer electronics drop testing, automotive crashes, and ballistic impact.
3DEXPERIENCE SIMULIA is flexible with roles for different sets of capabilities: Structural Designer, Structural Engineer, Structural Performance Engineer, Structural Mechanics Engineer, Durability Performance Engineer, Durability and Mechanics Engineer and Fluid Dynamics Engineer. The packages shown in the matrix above are the most common configurations, and we recommend exploring the feature list to determine what level is right for you.
SIMULIA Structural Performance Engineer and SIMULIA Structural Mechanics Engineer use the same proven solver technology as the desktop version of Abaqus, but feature a modern user interface and new workflows designed specifically for the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is sold in modules called roles. Each role is for a specific task and a role can contain multiple applications. Every role on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is tied to a specific user. Everyone connecting to the platform will need to be assigned their unique set of roles.
We are here to assess your situation and get you exactly what you need without buying more than you require. Typically, not all roles are required for every user. For instance, let’s say you have three people, two SOLIDWORKS engineers and the engineering manager, but only one engineer needs simulation capabilities. In that case everyone would need the foundation roles, however, the manager would not require anything additional and only one 3DEXPERIENCE SIMULIA role would be needed.
