The 3DEXPERIENCE suite of 3D design tools are each purpose-built and allow you to design, manage, and store all your creations from any browser-enabled device.
3D Sculptor and 3D Creator – Next Generation Browser-Based Design
3D Sculptor is a sub-d (subdivision modeling) design application that creates complex organic shapes by pushing and pulling on model vertices, faces, and edges. It’s like you are modeling with a ball of digital clay and is perfect for ergonomic products, conceptual designs, and getting ideas out fast.
3D Sculptor and 3D Creator are part of an ever-expanding suite of browser-based tools on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, called xApps. These apps work together seamlessly on the same design, each adding their own specific purpose-built design elements to your process.
Not only can you switch what xApp you are using on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and continue to work on the same design, but all xApp projects can also be opened directly in SOLIDWORKS and retain an associative link back to the original design. So, when you make a design modification in the cloud, SOLIDWORKS will see that change and update accordingly. This creates avenues for collaboration never seen before in the CAD business.

HOW CAN HAWK RIDGE SYSTEMS HELP?
As a leader in 3DEXPERIENCE knowledge, our team is ready to help you explore the new browser-based design tools. If you decide they are right for you, we will be right there with you to help you make the transition as we have done with many other users.
A customer was struggling to create advanced surface geometry for use with injection molding. After introducing these new tools, they were able to upload their SOLIDWORKS designs for reference, use 3D Sculptor to create complex organic shapes, use 3D Creator to split and shell out the design, and then bring it back into SOLIDWORKS to seamlessly incorporate back into their assemblies.
We got a call from a 3D print entrepreneur with a vision but no means to create their designs. We got them setup with 3DEXPERIENCE using 3D Creator and they were pumping out ideas and exporting STL files to be printed within hours.
We had two customers who needed to collaborate closely with each other on a large project, needing a secure and controlled method to share CAD data. This was a perfect situation for 3DEXPERIENCE; both companies were able to upload designs, work on each other's designs, and use 3D Sculptor in conjunction with SOLIDWORKS. Best of all, they weren’t stepping on each other's toes while trying to work since the 3DEXPERIENCE PDM allows reserving and releasing of the design, only allowing one person to make changes at a time.

SUPPORT
TOP-RANKED SUPPORT, COMMITTED TO YOUR SUCCESS
When it comes to support for the entire 3DEXPERIENCE platform, nobody is more educated and experienced to take care of you.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is sold in modules called roles. Each role is for a specific task and a role can contain multiple applications. Every role on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is tied to a specific user. Everyone connecting to the platform will need to be assigned their unique set of roles.
What roles are required to use the 3DEXPERIENCE platform?
There are two roles required to be connected to and to run additional programs on 3DEXPERIENCE. These foundation roles are called Collaborative Business Innovator and Collaborative Industry Innovator. These give you the ability to connect from any smart device from anywhere in the world. From any browser, you can view 3D content, manage revisions, lifecycles, and cloud data. Additional roles can be purchased for additional capabilities, such as 3D Sculptor, which adds the ability to create organic designs.
Can I bring my 3DEXPERIENCE designs into SOLIDWORKS?
Yes, the Collaborative Designer role allows direct connection for uploading designs from SOLIDWORKS to 3DEXPERIENCE and from 3DEXPERIENCE into SOLIDWORKS. Designs are controlled independently from their original CAD application, so designs created in SOLIDWORKS update in the cloud and designs created in the 3DEXPERIENCE apps update in SOLIDWORKS. The feature tree remains in the original CAD application and can be modified at any time; changes are then reflected across platforms.
How do I know what roles to buy?
We are here to assess your situation and get you exactly what you need without buying more than you require. Typically, not all roles are required for every user. For instance, let's say you have three people, two SOLIDWORKS engineers and the engineering manager, but only one engineer needs organic modeling. In that case everyone would need the foundation roles, however, the manager would not require anything additional and only one 3D Sculptor role would be needed.
What exactly does browser-based mean?
Applications that run directly in a browser that do not require any installation are commonly referred to as browser-based. 3DEXPERIENCE is a hybrid workflow where most tools function directly in the browser, like 3D Sculptor and 3D Creator, however other tools like Collaborative Designer, the add-in for SOLIDWORKS, is an installed application that connects to the cloud.
What am I able to do in SOLIDWORKS with my designs created on the cloud using the browser based xApps?
All designs created in the 3DEXPERIENCE xApps connect directly to SOLIDWORKS through the Collaborative Designer role, which is an add-in for SOLIDWORKS. This will allow you to open all your xApps designs in SOLIDWORKS as a solid body, use them in your assemblies, create additional part features, and even create drawings.
