Next-Generation CNC Machining Solutions
This suite of CAM tools from DELMIA allows you to quickly program tool paths and develop machining plans for components designed in SOLIDWORKS. As part of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the development of machining operations can be integrated as part of your wider design-to-manufacturing process, working directly on the CAD data from your design and engineering team.

Frequently Asked Questions
Think of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform as a web-connected operating system for next-generation design and business applications. It allows a variety of functions to run, and these are unlocked by purchasing roles to conduct different workflows. In the case of the DELMIA machining roles, they allow for the creation of toolpaths and machining plans for design data stored on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
The DELMIA machining roles perform similar functions to those contained within the SOLIDWORKS CAM and CAMWorks packages. The tool that is the best for you may depend on where your data is stored and managed – if it’s within desktop SOLIDWORKS or PDM, SOLIDWORKS CAM might be best, but if you’re using 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS, or browser-based CAD, working with the DELMIA roles might be more natural.
That is one key differentiation between the DELMIA roles and those solutions available for desktop SOLIDWORKS. Swiss machines can be challenging to develop toolpaths and machining plans for, but the specific role named NC Prismatic and Mill-Turn Machine Programmer is specifically optimized to handle these systems. If you are programming for a Swiss machine, this role is your best option.
The DELMIA solutions are organized into a series of roles, with escalating levels of complexity. Each increasing level introduces additional complexity of machining operation, and you’d purchase the highest level role that you’d expect to need.
The DELMIA machining roles, like all 3DEXPERIENCE roles, are purchased as a named-user term license, on either annual or quarterly terms. Each user participating in creating CAM programs will need his or her own license which will be aligned with an email address. Each user can be assigned different roles, based on the functions he or she needs to perform, and each role can be reassigned once every 30 days.
