The Factory Simulation Engineer solution allows engineers to design factory layouts and define and validate the behavior of a station, line, or complete plant in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
They see their systems in 3D as they design them. From there, they can assess and fine-tune the performance of production systems, conducting feasibility and performance studies.
In addition, they can identify bottlenecks early in the planning process and maximize production rates with alternate routings. They can optimize resource positioning, thanks to precise 3D simulation.

Due to over 80 years of operations at the massive Columbus factory, the multiple business units have overlapping production lines and processes, resulting in a stockpile of old, new, and custom-made equipment — some still used and some not; various materials; and a variety of furniture, cabinetry, and storage racks. Over the years, each business unit has taken up any available space, contributing to bottlenecks that impede factory flow.
“Our plant layout has become something of a hodgepodge with certain jobs moving back and forth from one end of the building to the other when they could have benefitted from better flow within the factory plant layout,” explains Process Engineer James Kucera. “The ultimate goal is to configure the plant in order to produce better products at lower costs.”

Yes, DELMIA Factory Simulation supports automated guided vehicles (AGVs). You can analyze the best path to minimize travel time, how many AGVs you need to meet your requirements, and maximize their utilization.
The Factory Simulation Engineer role supports multiple formats, including SOLIDWORKS files, DXFs, STEP, Revit, and 3D point cloud data. You can mix both 2D, 3D, and point cloud data into the same simulation.
Like all 3DEXPERIENCE tools, roles are purchased as a named-user term license on either annual or quarterly terms. Each user who needs to leverage the software will need their own license aligned with an email address.
Every user can be assigned different roles based on the functions they need to perform, and each role can be reassigned once every 30 days.
