FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is CAMWorks easy to learn?
You will want to have experience with CNC machines prior to learning
CAMWorks, but the software itself is highly intuitive, making it
relatively easy to learn. If you take instructor-led courses from Hawk
Ridge Systems, our specialist CAM trainers have expertise in the software
plus real-world machining experience to help you get up-to-speed quickly.
What is the best way to learn
CAMWorks?
For new users, we recommend taking formal CAM training courses taught by
our expert instructors so that you can learn the fundamentals and get
all your questions answered. To do this in a cost-effective manner, we
have put together the
CAM Training Pass that
lets you as many of our CAM courses as you need for a reduced price.
However, we know that everyone has different learning styles and
sometimes you need to be able to learn on your own time. For that, we
recommend
SolidProfessor training, which offers over 7,500 self-paced training modules.
To maximize your learning efforts, we recommend a three-prong approach
where you can combine the best of all available training methods:
Use self-paced training from SolidProfessor to brush up on specific
skills, prepare for training classes and certification exams, or just
as a refresher.
Use instructor-led training courses to get interactive sessions where
you can ask questions, learn with others, and receive feedback.
Use dedicated “Ask an Expert” sessions as a more in-depth way to put
your training to work effectively for your specific designs.
This will vary depending on what type of machining you do. If you are
taking our instructor-led courses to learn CAMWorks, you can learn the
basics of using the software for 2.5 axis milling in as little as 2 days
in the classroom. You can review each of our CAMWorks training course
descriptions to see if you will benefit from them and how long they will
each take. The courses last between 1 and 3 full days in the classroom or
between 2 and 5 partial days online.
What experience do I need to have
in order to attend CAMWorks training?
This will vary depending on the course you are looking for. If you are
new to CAMWorks, you will need to start with the 2.5 axis milling course
– a pre-requisite for all our other CAM courses. This course just
requires an understanding of computers and Microsoft Windows, as well as
experience with a CNC machine. Solid modeling experience is also a plus.
For more advanced courses, pre-requisites are listed on the course
description pages.
