FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is SOLIDWORKS easy to learn?
The portfolio of SOLIDWORKS solutions has been designed to be intuitive
and easy to learn. While the solutions feature powerful tools and robust
functionality, most users pick up how to use the software quickly. With
comprehensive training for every learning style available from Hawk Ridge
Systems, new user ramp-up time can be quite fast.
What is the best way to learn
SOLIDWORKS?
There are many ways to learn SOLIDWORKS. There are self-paced tutorials
built into the software, as well as formal, instructor-led training
options. For new users, we recommend taking several of the interactive
core SOLIDWORKS training courses taught by our expert instructors so
that you can learn the fundamentals and get all your questions answered.
To do this in a cost-effective manner, we have put together the
SOLIDWORKS Empowerment Training Pass
that lets you take up to nine courses for a reduced price.
However, we know that everyone has different learning styles and
sometimes you need to be able to learn on your own time. For that, we
recommend
SolidProfessor training, which offers over 7,500 self-paced training modules.
To maximize your learning efforts, we recommend a three-prong approach
where you can combine the best of all available training methods:
Use self-paced training from SolidProfessor to brush up on specific
skills, prepare for training classes and certification exams, or just
as a refresher.
Use instructor-led training courses to get interactive sessions where
you can ask questions, learn with others, and receive feedback.
Use dedicated “Ask an Expert” sessions as a more in-depth way to put
your training to work effectively for your specific designs.
What experience do I need to have
in order to attend SOLIDWORKS training?
This will vary depending on the course you are looking for. If you are new
to SOLIDWORKS, you will need to start with SOLIDWORKS Essentials – a
pre-requisite for many of our other courses – and this just requires an
understanding of computers and Microsoft Windows, however education in
mechanical design or experience in engineering and solid modeling is a
plus. For more advanced courses, pre-requisites are listed on the course
description pages.
How can I prepare for SOLIDWORKS
certifications?
There are many resources available to help you prepare for SOLIDWORKS
certification including practice exams for CSWA and CSWP tests, prep
courses from SolidProfessor, and instructor-led training courses. If you
want to prepare for the exams with our training courses, we recommend
the following pathway:
CSWA: SOLIDWORKS Essentials CSWP: Essentials plus Advanced Part
Modeling, Assembly Modeling, and Drawings CSWE: Everything for the
CSWP plus Mold Design, Sheet Metal, Weldments, and Surface Modeling
