Why PolyJet?

When product decisions depend on appearance, realism, and fit, approximation slows down decision-making. PolyJet technology allows you to simulate real-world conditions in a single print by combining multiple materials, textures, and colors into one detailed model. This makes it easier to evaluate design choices earlier, catch issues sooner, and reduce costly late-stage changes.

Whether you’re validating ergonomics, reviewing assemblies, or presenting concept models to stakeholders, PolyJet helps you move from concept to validation faster and with fewer iterations.

Office-Friendly PolyJet Printers

For engineering teams focused on concept modeling and design validation but want a small footprint to bring prototyping in-house to the office, the J35 Pro and J55 Prime provide accessible multi-material capabilities in a compact footprint. The J55 Prime offers full color printing, ideal for design teams that need high-quality visual models for concept reviews and stakeholder presentations.

High Throughput PolyJet Printers

As workflows scale, the J8 Series provides larger build volumes for higher throughput. These systems allow teams to produce more complex assemblies – with up to seven materials printed simultaneously – and run multiple iterations at once, supporting parallel development across projects.

For the largest build volume, industrial design teams select the J850 Prime (full color printing) or the J850 Pro (multi-material grayscale printing). For full color printing in a slightly more compact design, the J826 Prime may be the right fit.

Medical Applications

In healthcare and medical device development, accuracy directly impacts patient outcomes. PolyJet medical printers enable medical device and healthcare organizations to reduce reliance on external vendors, improve medical training outcomes, and accelerate innovation while minimizing risk.

The J5 MediJet adds support for biocompatible materials. This makes it possible to create models that meet real-world medical requirements, test device interactions, and refine designs before entering clinical environments, while keeping production in-house.

The J5 Digital Anatomy and J850 Digital Anatomy enable surgical planning, training, and device validation using realistic anatomical models that replicate the look, feel, and mechanical behavior of human tissue to simulate surgical procedures.

Fashion & Wearable Applications

In fashion and wearable design, traditional production methods can slow down iteration and limit what’s possible. The J850 TechStyle changes that by enabling designers to print directly onto textiles and flexible materials. Quickly test patterns, textures, and material combinations to refine designs and explore new concepts.

For brands working on customized or highly visual products, this approach reduces development time while expanding what can be created.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PolyJet 3D printing and how does it work?

PolyJet is a high-precision 3D printing technology that jets thin layers of liquid photopolymer onto a build tray and instantly cures them with UV light. This process enables the creation of smooth, highly detailed parts with fine resolution and the ability to combine multiple materials in a single print.

What are the key benefits of PolyJet technology?

PolyJet delivers exceptional surface quality, full-color capabilities, and multi-material printing in one build. This allows users to create realistic prototypes that simulate final products, including flexible components, transparent features, and complex textures—all without additional assembly.

What applications is PolyJet best suited for?

PolyJet is ideal for industrial designers and engineering teams that need highly realistic prototypes for concept validation and design reviews. It is widely used in industries such as consumer products, medical devices, and electronics where appearance, detail, and material simulation are critical.

Do I need to buy special software to run PolyJet 3D printers?

Every Stratasys printer comes with GrabCAD Print, an easy-to-use software that simplifies the 3D printing workflow. GrabCAD Print works with any CAD files and offers automatic support generation and real-time print monitoring.
