3D Print Finishing with an Injection-Molded Feel

Bring production-ready quality to your powder-based 3D prints without tooling — and without the big price tag.

The VX1 system has the largest processing chamber in its class. Its compact design and simple operation make it an ideal fit for labs, offices, and   shops where space is a premium. It utilizes safe and sustainable technology including non-toxic, PFAS-free solvents in a closed environment.

The DyeMansion VX1 vapor smoothing system is perfect for entry-level post-processing needs due to its low cost of ownership and operation that includes a cartridge return program. In short, the VX1 delivers an ideal combination of simplicity and affordability —  perfect for small batch production.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is vapor smoothing?

Similar to an injection-molded surface, vapor smoothing post-processing offers a smooth surface for 3D printed parts Parts are exposed to a controlled solvent vapor that melts and then seals the outer layer, removing surface texture and improving durability.

Why choose vapor smoothing?

Vapor smoothing is a cost-effective alternative to injection molding for small batch production. It provides a smooth, glossy finish that helps improve part performance.

What materials can be smoothed?

The VX1 from DyeMansion works with PA12, PA11, and TPU materials.

How does the VX1 vapor smoothing system compare to other solutions?

Compared to other vapor smoothing systems, the VXcosts less, has a compact design, greater ability to use different materials, and is easier to use. It is ideal for use as an entry-level system or for small-batch production.

If you’re looking for something larger, we have the DyeMansion Powerfuse S, which has a higher processing volume chamber and a much larger footprint.

We’re here to help. Contact us if you’re unsure which model is best for your workflow.

How long does the VX1 take?

Depending on the material and part size, the VX1 takes between 1.5 and 3 hours to process.
