Collaboration Packs — aka Collab Packs — are an easy way to purchase multiple units of the base-level data management functions of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

No, they are not the same thing. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is the broader technology portfolio containing tools under multiple brand names. ENOVIA is the brand name for the platform’s PLM and PDM-related functions

Anyone in your company can use a Collab Pack license, but they are generally geared toward people outside your engineering department. Anyone who needs to view data like 3D models, drawings and other documents will be a good fit for this type of license. Shop floor manufacturing users, executives, managers, salespeople, marketing, IT, purchasing and more can all benefit from being connected to your product data.

No. Changing design data will require access to your CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS. But, more importantly, at Hawk Ridge Systems, we can also define permissions for how the Collab Pack users will operate within 3DEXPERIENCE, which is primarily in a read-only fashion when it comes to design data and drawings.

Yes. All 3DEXPERIENCE roles are assigned to a named user. Collab Packs allow users to easily purchase licenses for multiple users at a lower cost per unit

No. However, it’s easy to scale into those functions. Tools such as Product Release Engineer and Project Planner roles can be added to your 3DEXPERIENCE environment at any time. Depending on the level of functionality you need, purchasing one of the Cloud PLM Offers may allow you to scale easily into the functions that benefit you most.

Ideally, you’ve had a conversation with our Hawk Ridge Systems team regarding the migration strategies we can employ to make this as seamless as possible. That said, if you have some files still lying on a server or someone’s hard drive, you can migrate some of those files with the appropriate permissions in your platform environment. If this involves CAD data like SOLIDWORKS, that’s best handled by a SOLIDWORKS user who may have access to the Cloud Services tools.
