Hexagon RS5 3D Scanner is affordable and able to be used for both portable measuring arms and laser tracker measurement, making it a versatile and accessible solution.
The RS5 laser 3D scanner allows you to collect scan data with your Hexagon Absolute Arm and switch seamlessly between scanning and probing. This versatile scanner also allows you to easily remove it from the Arm for easier access to hard-to-reach spaces, then remount it in seconds without the need for recalibration. The RS5 delivers high-speed 3D scanning for a wide range of finishes and materials without the larger investment demanded by Hexagon’s flagship AS1 blue laser scanner.
Additional benefits of the RS laser scanner include:
Wide scan line to cover parts quickly
Horizontally oriented scan line for more comfortable measurement
Full-speed scanning performance over WiFi or a single cable
Complete System Scanning Certification defined according to ISO 10360-8

Will this system require that I put
stickers or targets on objects in order to scan them?
No. The arm maps the data together using encoders in the joints of the
arm, so it does not require targets.
I hear that some scanners can only
scan geometrically rich items and their performance is dependent on
geometry type of the part. Is that true of this scanner?
No. The arm tracks (maps the data together) using encoders in the joints
of the arm and does not require geometrical features to track, so it works
equally well on all geometry types.
If I want to switch from laser to
probe mode, will I have to remove the laser? Will I have to recalibrate it
when I put it back on?
No to both. You can switch between laser and probe without removal, and
the couplers on the scanner attachment do not need recalibration when
reattached.
Can I remove the handgrip for
scanning inside tight spaces?
Yes, the handgrip is removeable.
Can you remove the laser scanner
completely for easier probing inside tight spaces or cavities?
