Mistakes happen! Critical Alert SPR 833247 – Get updated and avoid issues
SOLIDWORKS 2015 x64 SP1.1 is out now and you should know why.
There were some issues with incremental values changing when clicking the save button. If you want more information please read on!
In SOLIDWORKS® 2015 SP0, why do the values of ‘Date’ type custom properties change each time I open and save a file?
In SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP0, any file containing a custom property value containing a ‘Date’ type value can have an incorrect value. This problem only occurs on computers with a time zone setting behind UTC (GMT).
Date values decrement by one day every time you open a file in SOLIDWORKS or every time the SOLIDWORKS Document Manager accesses a file. For example, a date value will decrement by one day if a SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM client changes data card information. If you save, the file saves with the incorrect date.
Additionally, ‘Date’ type custom properties that you intend to be empty may now have values. In this scenario, the date value is wrong and displays year ‘1800’ or ‘1799’.
This issue happens with files you create in SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP0, and this issue happens with older version files that you open and save in SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP0. For example, SOLIDWORKS 2014 files, 2013 files, etc. ***For older version files, the first time you open a file in SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP0 and save, the date values do not change.*** However, on any future opens of the file in 2015 SP0, then the date problem can occur.
SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP1.1 prevents new occurrences of the issue and is available for download as of December 16, 2014. If you use SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP0, we strongly recommend that you upgrade all 2015 products to 2015 SP1.1.
SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP1.1 does not automatically correct dates that have incorrect values. There is no way for you to determine how many days a ‘Date’ type custom property decrements. You should review all ‘Date’ type custom properties. You will need to manually correct the wrong values and save the files in one of the following:
– SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP1.1
– SOLIDWORKS product that uses SOLIDWORKS Document Manager 2015 SP1.1.
