The SOLIDWORKS 2016 release is out and they have made some nice enhancements to the CircuitWorks add-in. The first being it is available with SOLIDWORKS Professional and Premium. It was only available in Premium previously.
Next thing is they have added Bulk Build functions in the SOLIDWORKS Task Scheduler. So you can select a folder or individual ECAD files to load into CircuitWorks Library.
They have also made some nice enhancements for the CircuitWorks library. One of these is filtering the components during open. When you have an ECAD file with a lot of components you can have filters setup to suppress the components you do not want to see. These filters are stored in the CircuitWorksFilters folder. When the filters are used during the open of the file the components filter will not be visible in the graphics area but will be in the feature tree.
There are also some good enhancements in the Component Library. There is the ability to add custom properties to the files. Select the Add Property icon in the library. We can then type in the Property and the Value in the dialog and choose if you want to apply to all and show in the table.
Another new item here is showing more columns of properties in the table. Like adding the property “Show in Table” check box but this allows you to add all or just selected properties. So when you create a custom property and do not select to show in table this will allow this to shown later.
There quite a few other enhancements that are all covered in the What’s new document. This is available from the install and also from the link below.
If you have any questions with these enhancements please contact your VAR Support to get the answers and report any issues.
